Position Description – Community Planning Coordinator
The Community Planning Coordinator will work closely with local business and community volunteers to promote the village of St. Peter’s. He/she will work under the direction of the Village on the Canal Association (VOCA) from July 2nd to August 23rd (8 week duration).
Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide support for community festivals in partnership with local businesses and community groups:
- Nicolas Denys Days
- Louisbourg300 – Fort Toulouse
- Festival of Trees
- Create / update and implement a collaborative marketing plan for annual festivals
- Maintain / update a database of local businesses and community organizations
- Maintain and enhance newly launched website (www.visitstpeters.com)
- Connect with local museums and heritage groups to develop cooperative marketing packages
- Connect with local VIC to ensure community events are communicated to the visiting public
- Update the Village of St. Peter’s Walking Map
- Evaluate the success of festivals and seek opportunities for future improvements
- Provide a weekly written update to VOCA’s Summer Student Management Sub-committee
Minimum Qualifications
As a Community Planning Coordinator, you will:
- Have strong communication, interpersonal skills
- Be articulate and creative
- Be fluent in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, Social Media and Web Design applications
- Be an independent self-starter
- Work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings as required
- Attend a post-secondary institution in the fall of 2013
