St. Peter’s and Richmond County Events Calendar

St. Peter’s is a natural hub from which to seek out Cape Breton activities, attractions and experiences whether on land or sea/inland sea. We are within walking distance or a short drive away from some unique Cape Breton attractions and firmly anchored among many traditions and cultures.

For information and a full list of events and happening around Cape Breton and guide books and maps for N.S., PEI, NB, and Newfoundland stop in at the St. Peter’s Visitor Information Centre. Our hours are from 9am to 6pm Monday, thru Saturday and 10am to 6pm on Sundays.

Saturday, October 12

2pm: – The Strait Area Theatre Society Presents One Hundred Thousand Welcomes – A Comedic Musical Love Letter To Cape Breton Island at the SAERC Auditorium in Port Hawkesbury. This event is a family friendly production and tickets are $10.00, and can be purchased at the Civic Centre’s Box and at tickets.phcivic.com.  

Sunday, October 13

2pm: – The Strait Area Theatre Society Presents One Hundred Thousand Welcomes – A Comedic Musical Love Letter To Cape Breton Island at the Shannon Studio at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre in Port Hawkesbury. This event is a family friendly production and tickets are $10.00, and can be purchased at the Civic Centre’s Box and at tickets.phcivic.com.  

Monday, October 14

2pm: – The Strait Area Theatre Society Presents One Hundred Thousand Welcomes – A Comedic Musical Love Letter To Cape Breton Island at the SAERC Auditorium in Port Hawkesbury. 2pm – 4pm: – Brown Bag Sale & Tea at the Grand River Fire Hall, in Grand River. Price $5.00.

Wednesday, October 16

1:30pm – 6:30pm – Celebrate The Colours – A Pop Up Gallery, presented by Kiss Me Arts at the Upper Level of the Bonnie Brae Club at 14 Toulouse Street, St. Peter’s. This is sure to be an amazing event come check it out.

Friday, October 18

6pm – 9pm: – the Island Steppers are hosting a haunted house at the Tara Lynne Community Centre in River Bourgeois and it is going to be so much fun.  Admission is $5.00 per child. Canteen services will be available with items costing $1.00 each.

Saturday, October 19th

2pm – 4pm: – Celebration of Dance – Célébration de la danse at La Picasse in Petit de Grat.  Event will showcase different styles of dance (step, square, highland). This interactive event will have participants

learning simple dance steps. There will also be a traditions/ history of dance component. Tickets are $10.00. Hosted by: La Picasse Centre Communautaire Culturel Contact: Josette Marchand, 902-226-0149 or direction@lapicasse.ca.

5pm – 9pm: – the Island Steppers are hosting a haunted house at the Tara Lynne Community Centre in River Bourgeois and it is going to be so much fun. The little ones can come to the age friendly haunted house with the lights on, on Saturday (only), from 5pm to 6pm and the older ones can take in the regular version of the haunted house from 6pm to 9pm. Admission is $5.00 per child. Canteen services will be available with items costing $1.00 each.

Sunday, October 20

2pm: – An Island Night to Remember at the St. John’s Centre for the Arts, in Arichat. A theatrical / musical presentation. Contact: Cameron Jones (902-299-8997).

7pm – 9pm: – Simply Words, this amazing duo will be performing at the Tara Lynne Community Center in River Bourgeois. $10.00 at the door. Hope you can make it to hear these two great entertainers, with tremendous vocal harmonies!

12 PM: – Fall Vendor & Craft Extravaganza at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre, 606 Reeves St. Port Hawkesbury. Lots of vendors on site.
