St. Peter’s, NS – The Village of St. Peter’s has 300 reasons to celebrate this summer! Battery Park in St. Peter’s is home to Fort Toulouse which shares its 300th anniversary with the Fortress of Louisbourg this year, so we have jumped headlong into the celebrations. With almost 50 events lined up, this year’s Nicolas Denys Days festival culminates with a series of events in Battery Park that will be jam-packed with entertainment and fun, 18th century style!
It all kicks off on Monday, July 29th with our annual Poker Walk – a great way to get active and to see the Village coast line! Many events are hosted by local community groups to help them raise funds or awareness about the great work they do. Events such as the Teddy Bear Picnic on Tuesday and the MacAskill Museum Auction on Wednesday are annual favorites for the young and old. And of course the Chowder Dinner and Deep Fried Turkey are delicious treats to look forward to each year!
For 2013, entertainment is on the docket with live performances every night of the week. The Village has Talent! and Talented Teens will showcase the awesome talent of up-and-comers from the area. To find out how you can participate, visit www.visitstpeters.com.
Two feature performances through the week are a very special Wednesday night JP Cormier Concert at the United Church (widely known for its great acoustics!) and a rockin’ Friday night at the MacBouch with the Dan Doiron Band. Tickets to the JP Cormier Concert must be booked in advance by calling Verna at 535-2166.
The highlight of the week will be the Saturday Beggars Banquet in Battery Park on August 3rd. Presented by Point of View Suites in Louisbourg, the Banquet is a comedy show dinner theatre like no other! While you dine, “Sabine the wench” and her 18th century style musicians will regale you with stories, lyrics and tunes about love and life in the 1700s. Costumes are provided so you can join the fun! There is limited seating for this event – so book early and don’t miss out. Tickets are available at the St. Peter’s Visitor Information Centre or contact Amanda at 902-631-0690 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
GREAT FOOD – GREAT FRIENDS – AND LIVE ENTERTAINMENT ALL WEEK LONG! You are invited to join the Celebrations – visit www.visitstpeters.com.
