Geocache the Village:
See all the sights and have fun doing the multi-geocaches throughout the Village and surrounding area. Cachers can pick up your registration papers at the St. Peter’s Visitor Information Centre and then drop off completed papers at the Nicolas Denys Museum for a chance to win a prize (to be drawn Sunday after the parade). For assistance, phone Shanna at 631-2746 or Russ at 631-4471.

Teddy Bear Picnic:
Hosted by the Dr. Kingston Clinic Health Project and Louie’s Cozy Corner, this year’s picnic will include storytime, crafts, physical activities and snack time. Don’t forget your favorite teddy bear or super hero – we’ll be giving them a medical and dental check-up!

Village Scavenger Hunt:
The St. Peter’s Village Commission is hosting a Village-wide scavenger hunt. Test your directional and problem solving skills to solve all the clues while discovering St. Peter’s!
Prizes will be awarded. (Weather Permitting)
Location: Village Kiosk in front of the Post Office.

Time: Registration 2pm-3pm (check back in before 6pm)

The Village has Talent:
For kids 13 & under – all talents welcome! This show will feature singing, dancing, playing instruments, poetry, comedy acts, etc. Prizes awarded to all participants! Nicolas Denys Museum Open House:
Hosted by the St. Peter’s Community Club, explore three centuries of history of St. Pierre, Fort Toulouse, St. Peter’s Canal, and Nicolas Denys.

Talented Teens:
Join the local youth from across the County as they provide entertainment for all, open mic style! This event is sponsored by the MacBouch Restaurant & Lounge. Everyone is welcome. All proceeds go directly to the young performers.

Round the Buoys Sailing Races:
Hosted by the Wallace MacAskill Yacht Club, visitors are welcome to watch or get onboard with local sailors for this weekly race. People interested in joining a race crew must arrive half an hour early.

MacAskill Museum Auction:
Hosted by the Wallace MacAskill Museum Society, the auction will feature new merchandise, antiques, home baking, gift certificates, door prizes and bidders’ prizes.

Village on the Canal Association (and friends!) are pleased to host a very special concert with J.P. Cormier in the United Church in St. Peter’s. With some of the best acoustics in the region, the United Church provides audience members with an intimate atmosphere as they enjoy the talent of one of Cape Breton’s most celebrated musicians.  To purchase tickets, contact Verna at 535-2166.

Christmas in August Kids Fun Day:
All proceeds go to the Children’s Wish Foundation so be sure to bring some spare change! There will be lots of games & prizes, a bake sale, Christmas cookies to decorate & hot chocolate, magic wands for sale sent from the North pole, writing letters to Santa, sucker pull game, coloring pages, and a visit from some elves. Christmas music will be playing & there will be a gift exchange (every child should bring a used toy wrapped & will get to exchange it for another used toy wrapped – toys that are not gender specific would be best!)

Kids Fun Run (3.3k) – Hawaiian style

Turning the Tides:
At the St. Peter’s Canal National Historic Site, visitors can take a scenic walk along the 800-meter long canal and watch as boats transit its unique double-gated tidal lock. The welcoming staff will enlighten you as they present the history of the canal and explain the workings of the tidal lock and swing bridge. Enjoy a day of fishing off the canal walls or walk across the lock gates for an afternoon hike in the adjacent Battery Park or the nearby coastal trail.

First Nations Smudging Ceremony:
Join local native leaders in a traditional smudging ceremony to open Louisbourg300 and Fort Toulouse celebrations on the right note. Sweet grass will be in the air to purify body, mind, and soul.

18th Century Market:
Hosted by the St. Peter’s Community Club, the craft market will include Paintings, Crafts, Baked Goods, Beach Glass Art, Cards, Photography, Jewelry and so much more – with an 18th century twist! To reserve a Table call the Nicolas Denys Museum @ 535-2379 (no flea market items please).

The festivities ramp up with live entertainment starting at 10:30am! Join fiddlers, guitar players, and musicians of all kinds as they kick off with some great tunes and steps to entertain Banquet and Market goers.

Boats have landed laden with lobster and crab! Presented by Point of View Suites in Louisbourg, the Banquet is comedy show dinner theatre like no other! While you dine, “Sabine the wench” and her 18th century style musicians will regale you with stories, lyrics and tunes about love and life in the 1700s. Costumes provided so you can join the fun! Guests should arrive 60 minutes in advance to dress. Choose from lobster, crab or chicken dinner. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
