The 150 acre Provincial Camp and Picnic site was first operated in 1967; it is on the East side of the St. Peter’s Canal. It offers 53 open and wooded overnight sites (21 serviced, 32 unserviced; 4 pull-throughs) located on a picturesque hillside. There is a picnic area and beach offered for day use as the park borders the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors to the park may also enjoy a hike to the top of Mt. Grenville via a footpath trail.

Located on the Bras d’Or Lakes and adjacent to the St. Peter’s Canal, the Bras d’Or Lakes Inn is a modern 4 ½ STAR, 3 DIAMOND, air conditioned 19 unit hotel. We provide upgraded rooms, meals and offer waterside activities for those visiting Cape Breton and the area. Each room has a phone, wake-up calls, clock radios, coffee maker, fridge, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. We also have a hot tub, wireless internet, multiple menus and two lounges offering up local entertainment on most evenings during the summer. Kayaks and a canoe or pedal boat are available for rental as well.
Canal Landing is located at the ocean end of the St. Peter’s Historic Canal. It is a welcoming centre, developed in partnership between St. Peter’s and Potlotek First Nation. There are local crafts, food and souvenirs for sale and bikes, kayaks, pedal boats and Eclipse standup pedal boards for rent. Various tours and other experiences are offered as well.

Based at the St. Peter’s Lions Club Marina, Cape Breton’s Premier Sailing School offers sailing lessons on their well equiped C&C 37. Adrian Rogers, the school’s owner and instructor, has been sailing for over forty years and holds a RYA Offshore Yachtmaster Certificate. With over 100,000 miles at sea, Adrian has vast experience and skillfully passes that knowledge onto his students. Support goes beyond the course – Adrian is always available to help and advice, and is regularly helping current and former students with prospective boat purchases!

Located at the entrance to the beautiful Bras d’Or Lakes on Cape Breton Island, we are in the small village of St. Peter’s. As you pass through the St. Peter’s Canal inbound to the Lakes we can be found about a 1/4 mile west of the canal in Strachan Cove.
The St. Peter’s Coastal Trail is an extension of the trail system within Battery Provincial Park that crosses the locks into National Park and St. Peter’s Bay. The trailhead is located at the Atlantic Ocean end of the St. Peter’s Canal., accessible by Toulouse St or Denys St. The trail is a converted railway bed that runs for 3 km along the shore of St. Peter’s Bay to River Tillard. It provides for easy walking and access up to the main street and shopping community.

Membership at the Wallace MacAskill YC is a family affair. Each membership includes immediate family members. Presently there is no membership fee charged. Members enjoy the right to fly the club burgee and reduced fees for some club events.
