RDV Tall Ships 2017 are coming to St. Peter’s

Rendez-Vous 2017 and the Tall Ships Regatta Nova Scotia will see various sailing ships and visitors from around the world visit 11 ports across the province including St. Peter’s. Four ships are planning to drop in to St. Peter’s with opportunities to get on-board!

The weekend of all Ship Rendez-Vous 2017 Activities> is interwoven as shown below with Pirates and other events to boot. Add in the annual Nicolas Denys Days and Swim the Canal events, and you’ll find St. Peter’s is the place to be the first week of August!

All Aboard the Tall Ships!
The decks of The Mist of Avalon, St. Lawrence II, and When and If will be open from August 4th – 6th! East Coast Credit Union Comfort Station available.

Tall Ships Photo Contest
Post pics on the MacAskill House Museum Facebook Page with the #MacAskillTallShipsContest. Submit your tall ships photo by Wednesday, Aug 9. Prize to be awarded to the winner by our judging panel.

Village Welcome:
An official welcome for the Tall Ships to the Village of St. Peter’s featuring music, Mi’kmaq dancers, Celtic dancers, and a Mi’kmaq Drumming group!

IWK Family Pirate Fun Run/Walk:
Come dressed in your Pirate best and get some exercise walking/running. All money goes to the IWK so please come out and show your support!!! Contact Shanna for more info (535-2987)

Deck Reception Hosted by the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce:
All members and business-minded people welcome to join us for a reception on the deck of the “When and If”! Snacks and beverages provided.

Epic Pirate Stories & Sea Shanties!

MacAskill Learning Photography Walk:
Join Colin for a photography learning opportunity with the majestic tall ships! Walk starts at the Museum, loops down to the Canal, and back.

Join Mary Susan Lafford to learn a variety of traditional Mi’kmaq steps!

Festin Musicale de la Rochelle featuring The Privateers!
Enjoy a traditional meat pie meal and beverage prepared by Louie’s Cosy Corner! Pirates will be on hand, so come dressed in your 18th century best to enjoy a meal and entertainment under the tents at the historic St. Peter’s Canal. Music by The Privateers! Hosted by Kin-Excel. Join us for a 5KM run to start your day on the right foot! Set your own speed to see scenic St. Peter’s and Battery Park, featuring Jerome Point Light. (Rain or Shine!)

Vendors from across Cape Breton Island will feature their unique artisan work at our 18th century trading post/village market.  Open jam session hosted by Myles Davidson – all musicians welcome!

Swim the Canal:
Hosted by The Village on the Canal Association and sponsored by the MacBouch Restaurant and Grill, our fourth annual “Swim the Canal” event revives a community tradition in a fun and safe way!  This year, we swim with the Tall Ships!  This event brings up to 150 people together through a fun and nostalgic community activity, reviving what was once a rite of passage, swimming from the Atlantic Ocean to the Inland Sea. Tall Ships Salute!
See the Tall Ships off with a bagpiping and drumming salute! All boaters encouraged to participate in a flotilla escort out of the bay with the ships.
